History

The project began in 2003 when Larry Badger AZ3 imported the first shipment of balls, bats and gloves. Larry I think was out in Gange and he distributed gear to Ming, Berde and Sheki. The individual sites held some games and practices but no tournaments were held and none of the kids ever played outside of their towns. I (AZ5) arrived in 2007 and went to Berde where my site-mates Jason Frost and John Shwartzbauer were holding practices. I took over the project in late 2007 and applied for the partnership grant. The summer of 2008 was the first year that we had funding. Each site got some money for shirts, travel and some food expenses. The plan was to hold games in each of the four sites but it never happened in Sheki for weather reasons I believe. Gange was the tourney winner from the three separate weekends. In 2008 Mathias arrived and took it from there.
